I hate to bring up a topic that seems to bring everyone's opinions on the subject out, but I would like to be able to use Flight Simulator at home and be able to do the same kind of things we can do with the Microsim trainers on base. I have purchased a pretty sweet model of the T-34C from alphasim, which has a few minor problems with the flight model, but it works for flying course rules and such. I was hoping somebody might have the scenery files that are used in the Microsim trainers. The course rule landmarks are not so easy to find using the default scenery. Thanks for any help.

I have them send me a PM with your email. I don't have the brand new ones that are loaded in to the ones on base, but the ones I have are pretty good.

Unfortunately, the AlphaSim flight model is horrible.. not to mention the cockpit panel/gauges, etc. The only thing that is really good is the exterior visual model. Power settings are all wrong, etc. I tweaked it, basically keeping only the exterior.. replaced all gauges with microsim gauges and even used microsim flight model.. power + attitude doesn't give me the right speed, but, eh, it's stable and a lot better than AlphaSim's.. I emailed AlphaSim several times, even posting publically in thier forums.. they didn't care.

Anyway, if your in Milton, your best bet is to walk into the Microsim office and talk to Mr. Brycacz (sp?) (pronounced Bryzak)

I talked with him about a month ago and they have huge improvments on the scenery.

If you're in Corpus, don't know what to tell you.

I used the microsim and I feel it helped me.

Yeah, I also got scammed on that Alphasim junk. And for some reason, the piece of crap actually crashes my computer when I run it with sound enabled. Go figure. I also tried emailing them to help them fix the model, and they clearly didn't care.

I'd also like to get some of that microsim scenery though. Does anyone have the corpus files?

On another note, I have a T-34 model for X-plane that works pretty good. The gouge power settings are a bit off, especially at altitude, but it's no worse than the microsim. Plus, X-plane is a far better sim all around. The scenery for corpus isn't that good though. Maybe I can adapt the MS scenery to X-Plane?

Couple of questions. Are all of the T-34C models and scenery of Whiting for MS Flight simulator for older versions, or will they work on MS Flight Sim 2004? Is there anywhere to get them for the current flight sim? And other than course rules, what all is it useful for/is it worth messing with? Thanks.

I haven't been able to find much use for it other than learning course rules. That being said, my course rules in the T-34 have been very good and that probably has quite a bit to do with virtually flying them on my computer. The flight model of the Alphasim T-34 won't allow you to do much other stuff. It's going to behave enormously different than the real aircraft. You can basically forget about doing any PA's. There might be some value in practicing RI's, though you can practice those using any simulator aircraft you have with the proper equipment.

The scenery that was sent to me, whether it was designed for MSFS 2004 or not, does work.
