In the often heated political climate of the SF Bay Area I will again be there at the end of the middle pier at Ft. Mason. For you "Non-Dinosaur O's" Ft. Mason was the departure point for tens of thousands of US Mil personnel that were headed out to the Pacific theater during WWII. MANY of those gents never returned. So when you use the bathrooms there- look around and reflect. Ft Mason is of significant historical importance- even though the populus of the local area would like those piers top go away due to their MIL history.

If any AW's or aspiring AW's want to converse- Just go to the END of the middle pier Friday or Sat and yell out for CAMike, I'll hear you. I'm the salty lookin dude with the Canon Equip and Bushhawk Rifle mount for that equipment. I might even have a folding chair. Open Invite. Just bring your own additives. Capt Morgan will be provided free of charge Friday, and likely Sat.

Hope you can watch the great SF Fleet Week AIR Show 2008!

(Yes, I grew up there and am often called many unflattering names for my political views. OK, I'll apologize for the near hit on a "Peace Navy" helmsman of a 35' sailboat with a full 16 oz coors light some years ago. We all make judgement errors at some point in our lives. Sorry for that behavior. I won't do it again this year. Just please lose the Peace Navy flags- I have a problem with privatley owned vessels flying Anti US flags.)

You should apologize - missing is completely unacceptable behavior. Your apology accept only if your promise to do better and hit the bastard next time.

Ill be out there as well. Look for a street bike with a huge USMC flag on the tail. Fleet week has always been my favorite time of the year, but thats too bad there will be no carriers! I love watching them do cat launches and traps in the San Francisco bay. How much better could it get! Love to see the hipsters jaws' drop when the show starts!

I'm there at heart. I love SF, despite the hippy-smell. How I wish I could escape this anus-ville, America town.

Have a great time out there. Hit up Gordo's for some killer mexican grub after the show!

If you have the chance, go to Fleet Week. I went last year and had a great time. While there are more than a few hippies in the Bay Area they pretty much stayed away. A couple free beers from some of San Francisco's finest bar patrons at the Rouge Brew Pub didn't hurt my feelings either.

Thank you, and well said... WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and later. Many fine men sailed under San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge and into harm's way. Not all returned, but they did us proud. Remember and honor them, and their ultimate sacrifice, for all of us and our nation.

Thank you for your kind posts. Believe it or not, as that beer left my hand and passed with a foot or so of that gents skull- I had that instantaneous gut wrenching feeling of "WTF did I just do?". Yes even though the crowd went crazy with enthusiasm at the near miss. It likely would have put him in the ER or worse. Bad call on my part.

As for today- No AW's present- or at least verbally announced.

UPDATE- Middle Pier and West Pier at Ft. Mason no longer have public access. The East Pier now has the ONLY public access. I'll be on that EAST PIER Saturday 10-11-08 -Rum in hand/truck.

Nice V-22 and F-16 Demo's. F-86 formed up with the F-16 after the 16 solo demo for some nice photo ops. A good day. In fact we had an unusually good F-16 Solo demo. I hink the 16 deliberately worked the south end of the box. F-22 is on the sked for tomorrow. So if it shows up, it will surely impress the non-vectored thrust familiarized crowd.

Enjoy and I look forward to a fine San Francisco Military Recruiting weekend! Keep up the great AW work!

If any RV'ers need some local gouge, PM me.

OK. I'm a bit technologically challenged at times but I'll try this. I created a photo album http://www.airwarriors.com/forum/album.php?albumid=21 and I think this link can take you there to view some photos from SF Fleet Week 2008.

I forgot how hardcore even the conservative Dems are in SF. After overhearing some politcal discussions on the pier I was amazed to hear so many "McCain Sea Stories", many think these are factual. (Yeah I know- I shouldn't be surprised). It's truly sad to see that people's severe hatred of GW, could and do cloud up their vision of where we are as a country and what what direction we need to go in the future. The "Anybody but Bush/McCain" attitude is individually irresponsible and not open mined at all. :(~ (rant off)

Enjoy the pics!
