When running at OCS, do we run in running shoes, or boots? Just asking for some clarification because I've read both.

Someone that's in OCS now told me that after the IN PFA if you run the 1.5 in under 10min you get to wear the shoes you brought.....if not you wear their shoes. Don't know what brand they are though.

Not true unless they just changed. I ran about a 12:30 on the in PRT and I wore the shoes I brought with me until the day I left. They do have good shoes at OCS and a good fitment for narrow, flat, wide feet etc..

I'm no expert and definitely have NO firsthand knowledge here. That said, I think Marines run in boots at OCS or TBS or whatever it is they have. I think Navy is running shoes only. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You run in sneaks. If you meet your out-PFA standard on your in PFA, they don't make you buy new running shoes (depending on your Candi-O's). But even if they make you buy the new ones, you keep wearing whatever ones you want. I saved the new ones they made me buy for inspection.

try fartlek type swimming exercises. it's a sort of intermittent sprint mixed with slower pace but without resting. i.e. 4x100 (mile pace) with 4x50 (sprint pace) mixed in between each 100 set. any more info you can look up on the internet. good luck with it, and dont forget to not breathe underwater.
