Royal Marines? As in British? Why would you think we would have the answers to that here?

I found the answer, it took me less than 3 minutes using Google.

Now I could just tell you, but being as how a young Senior in High School such as yourself can learn a valuable lesson in initiative from this, I won't.

Go forth, and find what you seek on the information superhighway that is the world wide web.

Why the HELL did you go to a United States Naval Aviation website and ask if it was possible to join another countries military?! Is this for real? Why would you want to join and potentially fight for a country that is not your own?! You should look in to the French Foreign Legion... They will let you join, and they make you a French citizen after your service!

Second the initiative thing.

That said, I can kind of relate to your mindset coming out of high school. Not to put words in your mouth, you probably read a book or saw a documentary on them and think they're the baddest dudes on the planet.

They are very intense, but if you're looking for that kind of challenge, there are many units in the US Military, starting with the UNITED STATES Marines that offer the same types of experiences. Yes I know the standard issue Marine is a different organism than the Royals, but we have Recon, MARSOC, ANGLICO, etc, etc for the snake-eating wannabes. The Navy has SEALS and UDT, the Army SF and Rangers, ad nauseum.

Excuse me, I think I'll go to a Harley-Davidson website and ask about snowmobiles now.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I saw the post. The problem is when that Ooooo ahhhhhh factor wears off.

The UDT are actually non-existent now, or they have become SEALs however you look at it. I totally agree with this. Talk to a SEAL, Recon, MARSOC, etc. guy about what they think about the other guys in SOCOM and you will get nothing but respect, maybe some ribbing but respect. They all are the same kinds of people doing the same kinds of things for the most part. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that wyldechild has read "Bravo 2-0"?

Kinda like the Boat School, eh?

Brett

Nah, see, because every week you'd think that the next week would be awesomer, and then when the next Monday rolled around and it still sucked, you'd think the next week would be even more awesomer, see, and that's why the coolness/oooohh ahhh factor just never wore off.....

Touche...

Now that had me genuinely laughing my ass off, and yes thats true to a great extent. Knew alot of guys check out after that factor wore off, myself included. If I'd have know better I would have dropped out of high school, got my GED, and gone the enlisted AW to commissioned NFO route...;) I might have gotten to hook up with some girls that couldn't beat me at arm wrestling...
