Am I allowed to use pepper spray like I can on dogs that attack me while running?

I grew up in SE Taxachusetts, so I am used to dealing with hippy hordes. Everytime I go home, I end up getting into some sort of incident within 48 hours of arriving. Usually, a no blood for oil or spitjob.

That was meant as a protect myself option. Peaceniks can get violent in groups it seems.

I had the misfortune to break down in the only "Socialist" neightborhood in JAX yesterday. I had to deal with no less than 5 wingbats giving me @$it about being in the military or belonging to the NRA while changing a starter in my pickup. Smack Dab between Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and Panera bread.
