Roller Coasters

7A... grew up off of that exit (sorta)... Trenton/Hamilton/Ewing. 7A off the turnpike, 16 off of 295, right at the light, if i remember correctly. Gotta pass a WaWa before you get to the park. Again, if I remember correctly.

Wow WaWa. People out here on the West Coast don't know anything about WaWa, or Sheetz even. Just Chevron, Shell, and 7-11. Nothing like the gas stations back on the East Coast. I could go for a Sheetz sandwich right now. (It is almost lunch time.)

Kings Dominion also has Volcano. It is one of the extreme acceleration coasters also. After getting to speed the car blast out of the top of the crater and there are some pretty decent sized flames that get pretty damn hot. Not a bad coaster at all. Especially if you go into it not expecting the high speed launch.

Very true, Volcano is pretty spectacular. Kings Dominions has quite a few coasters, though not as many as I hear Cedar Point has, thats on my list of places to go.

One issue that I have with Kings Dominion is that is seems dirty, just trash all over sometimes. I prefer Busch Gardens Williamsburg for that, and many other reasons, most important of which is better coasters, though far less in number. You can't beat the proximity to DC that KD has, however.

Sorry for the slight threadjack/

I find it hard to believe no one has mentioned the Top Gun coaster at Carowinds (Charlotte, NC) yet!

We used to have TOP GUN here at Great America in San Jose. During the park's off season last year Paramount (who also owns Kinds Dominion and Kings Island in OH) sold the park so everything with association to the company (ie: Movies titles) was changed. It is now called flight deck or something like that. Just not the same. Used to be my favorite coaster growing up. Oh well, its all about the money I guess.

I was behind a couple 11-13 year olds after a coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa once. One said, "That's just like what it'll be like when I'm a fighter pilot!"

Okay, motivator...
I hope you crushed his dreams with a reality check like: "too bad that we'll only have UAVs when you're old enough there, Turbo...mwah, ha, ha, haaaaaaaaaa!!!"

I rode that thing the first season it was open, like 1987-ish.:D

Great America Santa Clara started its decline when they got rid of the Stealth ride in '01 (has nothing to do with the movie) in favor of some Nickelodeon kids crap. The Paramount brand was what made that place fun; now I have no desire to go back.

Stealth ride ... (has nothing to do with the movie)

I read that Stealth was completely accurate. Right guys? Right? Guys???

Anyway, Great America was a lot of fun until they stared changing stuff around and bought out Marine World to turn into a Six Flags. The two were essentially right next store in the grand scheme of things.

Stealth was an awesome ride; a lay down "flying coaster." They removed it because its foundation was sinking. They actually replaced it with the new "water park." The nickelodeon stuff is another separate attraction, and has been there for as long as I can remember.

I also remember when Marine world started with rides. It was still marine world for a while it just had a coaster or two. Then they flooded it with rides to the point where Shamoo wasnt even the main attraction anymore. I didnt have a problem with the close proximity. Great America is in San Jose/Santa Clara, while Marine world is in Vallejo. They are over an hour away from each other. Kind of like Kings Dominion in VA and Six Flags in DC. Not much separation there either. Its all about the money and gaining claim to a market. The bay area is a huge market, but the North Bay is kind of cut off to some things.

Spent many a day there eh?

I would'nt want to be located near there either.... trying to find food after leaving the park was an interesting trip.... Allentown is a rather creepy town at 9pm... one of those towns where you drive into and they eat your brains.

/end my own threadjack

Theres a WAWA right down the road next to the freeway. Mmmm Wawa... I spent three years at Earle and had season passes.

My favorite roller coaster is not all that new... Big Bad Wolf at Busch Gardens. Throw in the fact that you can get drunk before & after - and it's a good day.
