Ribbons and Medals?

This question is for you nasty priors. Do I have to buy all my ribbons and medals before I go to OCS, or will I be able to buy them while I am there?

I have a question on this as well. Where on the net is there a reference to what Army ribbons, etc I can wear once I get my whole situation sorted out. I'm curious to see if I'll be authorized my Airborne and Air Assault wings.

Grunt-I can't speak for Navy uniform regs (Boy is that an oxymoron) but if you rate it then you can wear it in the Corps.
Gunner-Sure, you'll be able to buy your fruit salad there. Consider killing two birds with one stone and call the NEX in Pcola and have them mounted and waiting for your arrival.

Well, I know the ranger tab isn't authorized outside the Army so I was curious about the rest. I'm probably done jumping out of planes (at least on purpose) as I intend to keep all subsequent takeoffs equal to landings but I would like to wear the wings.

Anyone have a link to online Navy uniform regs?

You mentioned nothing about that damn Ranger Tab. You said Ribbons and medals. No the tab is not authorized. Do like most of Canoe U kids and have it tattoed to your hip if you feel you need to sport it. Frumby

I've been wonderinng the same thing about wearing ribbons and medals form prior service when I get to OCS and from what I have found out you can not wear devices such as Air Assault wings unless it was something you earned in the Navy. As far as ribbons and medals go there are only certain ones that you can. Ask your recruiter if he had a copy of the award regs.

All I will be able to wear are my achievement and commendation medals, and my jump wings. None of it is at all important compared to the gold wings though.

Grunt, are they going to let you into the Navy as an O3? What's the word?

Still unsure as of now. I just got a checklist of everything I have to put together for my packet. The current thought is that I will come over as an O3, but if I want any sort of a career I'll need to apply for an adjusted date of rank to coincide with when I return to active duty. If I kept my current date of rank my O4 board would meet right after I actually got to the fleet. Given all that, nobody is really sure nor do they know who exactly will make that decision.
