RI Sim DD175/Jet Log Gouge

ASK around the squadron...but keep in mind they are GOUGE....live by it die by it. The ones we had here in corpus were old and out of date so they didnt help much anyway....but honestly they arent that hard...plus you should get the practice, you will be doing them the rest of your career!!!
Seriously, it's not that hard to knock them out, and if you make a few errors along the way, it'll teach you what to look for the next time. You're not going to fail an event for having an error on your DD-175 if it's obvious you put the effort in.
When I hit the fleet, I did a -175 once a year for my instrument check, but I could muddle my way through it w/out much trouble because I had done so many back in flight school.

Dont waste your time looking for that stuff. Once you get done with RI ground school you will have done a bizillion of them and they are easy, just like gator said. Plus its a good way to walk through your flight beforehand. There are lots of places in primary for gouge, but this stuff is worth grinding through and learning. Good luck, feel free to ask any questions, we can help you get through the jets logs and -175s.
On a related note....I recommend getting a DUATS account at www.duat.com It will help with flight planning but is not to be used for your sole source of flight planning. It is also really easy to file a flight plan on the site. (if you had intended to call Lockheed Flight service). This takes about 30 seconds and you are done. I use it for pretty much every flight and to get a briefing from home before a standard flimsy brief.
www.fltplan.com is also a pretty useful too for route of flight...not to be used exclusively of course...
Learn to do a DD-175 for point to point, enroute delay for holding and/or approaches, and composites of those before you start using gouge. As others have pointed out, it may save a few minutes now...but it will bite you in the ass when you get to advanced and your IP's actually expect that you know what the hell you are doing.

There's one or two minor OPNAV limits on DUATS, but otherwise, I agree. Not sure about www.duat.com, but www.duats.com (a lower tech version) requires an airmen's certificate to register. Either way, it's a great resource and I use it all the time for CCX (along w/ good old Google Maps).
If I were you I'd just do them. If you really don't want to though, go find some of the HT guys that went through primary there before you and ask them as they've probably been through more recently than most of us.
