Im curious what the old Fouga jet flew in. I have a long history with the Reno Air Races, I helped build one of the sport planes that races in the gold and used to be in the pit crew, but I had never seen a Fouga there.

One of the coolest sounds I've ever heard was at the start of the Unlimited races there at Reno, when eight P-51s, Sea Furies, and Tigercats all gunned it and made a dive for the starting pylon. As a kid who always loved to read about the exploits of WWII fighter guys and who's room was full of plastic models, it was music to my ears...

I was up in Reno for the Air Races last weekend also. It was awesome. As hard as it is to say, (being and AF jet) the Raptor is INCREDIBLE!! I was blown away by the maneuverability with the TFV. The thunderbirds were cool too, but not as cool as the Blues. Just a bit of info, a lot of the pictures in the link are of aircraft that were in the viewing area and in the viewers choice competition. Not all of them were being raced. But still awesome aircraft.

The Fouga was in the Jet Class. I believe that it has to be a straight winged jet to qualify: L-29, L-39, T-2, Fouga, etc...

ohh, cool. I thought only L-39s could compete in the jet class. How did the Fouga do? Certainly not my first choice.
