I just broke up with my girlfriend of over 5 years today. not the best day of my life to say the least. Im concerned about my focus during primary and this bullshit affecting my performance. Has anyone else had to deal with some pretty shitty circumstances while going through training?

primary is definetly my main focus right now, and i guess im just worried about letting all this shit drag me down.

Thanks for the help guys.

I'm a Student (of sorts) and am currently going through a divorce. Get out and do stuff. Don't sit at home dwelling on it. Go for a run, clear your head.

If you and her went a lot of certain places together, don't go there for a while.

PM me if you need to.

Oh, and congrats on jettisoning used stores.. Its much cheaper/easier/less painful to have to deal with it when she is a GF/Fiancee vice Wife.

It's only 11pm. Get your ass to Farahs or the Pelican, find a SNAG and tag their brains out.. Come 8 MAY, its what I'm doing..

Break ups suck. No two ways about it. And while I have no advice on how to get you through training through this tough time, I wish you all the best of luck.

Naval aviators are famous for compartmentalization. Time to earn those stripes.

Take MasterB's advice. All of it. Better to have a few weeks that suck than forced entry into the Divorced Men's Choir.

BTW, you know why the Divorced Men's Choir doesn't tour? Because our ex-wives have all our fvcking money!!

Sounds like you are doing the right thing - focus on enjoying Primary and your entry into the best fvckin' career in the world :)

Take care of yourself - get a massage, play a round of golf a the nicest club around, go enjoy a great meal with your buds somewhere. Oh yeah and then there's the whole FLYING thing :)

When it comes to the compartmentilization thing, if you find yourseld unable to do so (or unsure if you are doing it right). Talk to you Flight Leader or Onwing.

When you do your IMSAFE part of your flight brief, mention it. Tell the IP you have it under control if you do.

I have flown with incredulous shit going on in my life (ex-wife issues, aunt dies, grandmother in hospital, all in same week) but was able to "stuff it in a box" and deal with it at a later point.

There was a time when I just had to pull myself off the flight schedule for a week, do deal with some crap. You need to get a handle on what you can and cannot deal with.

That's actually some of the best advice you've given MB. When I had a couple funerals during primary, my onwing always asked that I was okay and if I'd be good to fly, even when I was flying offwing. It helped to know that it was a viable concern and that my onwing at least seemed interested in making sure I was good to go. My flight leader even pulled me aside a time or two to make sure that I was okay and my family was doing fine. Believe it or not...they're there to make you succeed. If you don't use them...then it's your own fault.

I agree. Hard liqour and/or beer always makes the problems go away. Well...at least for a stiff 4-6 hrs.

You'll be fine bro. Time heals all wounds.
If your gonna do that, then listen to 10 rounds of Jose Quervo instead of Whiskey Lullaby...

Every time I drank tequila I puked or went hogging, sometimes both........not good........

Go out, get drunk and find a coed that wants to experience life to its fullest while she can........
