Whats the navy doing with Ensigns that fail a flight physical through NAMI? Are they redesignating them?

Answer is....it's depends. Bunch of factors including why you were whammied, where you came from, what you owe the Navy, and most importantly, the Needs of the Navy (tm).

Edit, I should say I've seen dudes I know go Civilian, SWO, OceanO, MSC, and SuppO. A few of those were good deal transitions. A few were not.

We had a MIDN who was notified literally 12 hours before commissioning that he failed his physical. The offered him a sub nuke slot which allowed him to commission the next day. He took and was on hold for a few months waiting for his interview.
