That was so last week.....Looks decent and quite a bit more promising than http://youtu.be/L8aUNa9PnRY ...
There's a 1968 Japanese film released by Toho called "Admiral Yamamoto". It stars Mifune Toshiro, who also played the same character in "Midway" 8 years later. However, "Midway" is so historically inaccurate by nowadays standards. I'm looking for the 4 hour director's cut of Midway which was only shown on TV.Seeing as I'm just finishing up Shattered Sword, it would be interesting to see someone come out and portray Midway as the two-sided clusterf**k it was instead of the Mother of All Naval Battles.
From what I've heard, John Woo's making one about the Flying Tigers now. There should be a true historical movie about the Flying Tigers, not the one with John Wayne.Same thing I thought when I saw this. It looks like it could be pretty good...but when is someone going to redo the Black Sheep series or make another Flying Tigers movie? I can only watch The Battle of Britain in blu ray so often...which, if you haven't seen, I HIGHLY recommend.
As far as the Tuskegee Airmen's escort record, they lost 25 bombers total over Europe.
Holy Thread Resurrection, Batman! But speaking of all the above, there used to be a rumor floating around that Peter Jackson was going to do a re-make of "The Dambusters". There's one I'd like to see…
Best film version of the Battle of Midway I've seen is that chapter in the made-for-TV series "War and Remembrance".
I thought HBO was making "The Mighty Eighth." There's a trailer on the interwebs for it.I'd still really like to see a good movie about the air war over Europe. Maybe another Spielberg/Hanks HBO joint miniseries in the vein of Band of Brothers. I vaguely remember a rumor that Spielberg had optioned The Wild Blue, but the idea was dropped after the plagiarism controversy.
Oh? Hadn't heard that. I'll have to look it up.I thought HBO was making "The Mighty Eighth." There's a trailer on the interwebs for it.
