Red Sportcoats

BoaisyJon

Point of parliamentary procedure!
I'm currently joining my family on vacation in Italy, and I was walking around Rome the other day and walked past a group of guys wearing Red Sportcoats with VFA-11 Red Rippers squadron patches. There's a lot of random logo stealing in Italy that's considered high fashion, but I'm curious if anyone knows if this is a squadron thing for VFA-11. Cheers!

It is a squadron thing. There are a few instructors at VT-86 that are former Red Rippers and wore the red jacket to the Christmas Party last year.

The Red Sport Coat with patch (it's a fancy old fashioned version with wire type embroidery) is a Red Ripper tradition and snce they just left on deployment several weeks ago, you likely saw the real deal. I was in their spaces prior to departure and noticed they were packing the jackets in cruise boxes. Of course, there is the casual version in which they wear Chuck Taylor Converse high tops, khaki shorts and white polo shirts.

Red coats are pretty bad ass...
