ITS NOT REAL. It went out after COB yesterday. Long after the supe went home. The entire brigade is sure it was a plebe. I always thought Admiral Rempt was a pretty good supe, alot more personable that most. And if you were there for the one that got the boot, then you know how bad they can be.
Yes, the current supe is great, although I didn't think Blue and Gold had to be changed. I never thought it was exclusive of women.
You guys actually sing at formal P-rades now? Although I hated them, formal parades were one of the few things which distinguished USNA as a military school, I just can't envision singing.

The word Comrade is actually French and not Russian. In fact, I'm not sure that Russians used it much.

I checked Dictionary.com and found the following:

Word History: A comrade can be socially or politically close, a closeness that is found at the etymological heart of the word comrade. In Spanish the Latin word camara, with its Late Latin meaning “chamber, room,” was retained, and the derivative camarada, with the sense “roommates, especially barrack mates,” was formed. Camarada then came to have the general sense “companion.” English borrowed the word from Spanish and French, English comrade being first recorded in the 16th century. The political sense of comrade, now associated with Communism, had its origin in the late-19th-century use of the word as a title by socialists and communists in order to avoid such forms of address as mister. This usage, which originated during the French Revolution, is first recorded in English in 1884.
In fact, the Russians are more apt to use Tovarish (friend), so I looked that up as well to find:

It is a great history lesson, and I'm sure you'll remember it if the topic comes up again :D BZ to the Admiral (or whomever wrote it)!

I too saw this email, it was forwarded to me by someone who is at the Academy. I traced the email server path (header path) and all of the headers and route paths look pretty legit, although emails can be spoofed.

Either way, I'm sure that if it's fake the Supe has probably said something about it by now. I'll try and see if my buddy has heard anything else yet.

As for USNA, there was always some crazy stuff going on when I was there and probably will for as long as it stands! Glad I went, even more glad I'm done.

Come on, people. Is there even the slightest bit of doubt that the leadership at USNA did not author this message? You people disappoint me.

I totally agree Brett, but my four years taught me to never say never. Ridiculousness is an everyday occurence.

Just talked to one of my midn buddies at the Academy. The staff isn't doing much of anything to find the culprit, but it was sent to the entire brigade.

How often do you guys have formal parades? We have one just about every Friday, weather permitting, and then have one for every home game.

And in answer to the question, no you guys aren't that weird. I think this kind of thing is pretty common to all military schools. We have stuff like this happen here at The Institute. And I was just teasing you boat school guys anyway. :)

Stay Safe, and try not to whoop Army's ass too bad this year, I don't think their fragile egos could handle it.:D

Anyways, my source on the inside said some ballsy Plebe managed to hack into the server and ultimately the Supe's email account. That's why it looked so legit since it actually came from his account but in reality was a hoax.

I agree with Brett, but my four years taught me to never say never. Ridiculousness is an everyday occurence.

Totally agree, my first impression was it was a hoax too, but with some of the stupid sh!t I saw happen it can get hard to discount rediculousness sometimes unless it comes straight from the mouth of the person who said it.

No, please DO whoop their keesters as badly as possible. :D You see, my wife is former Army enlisted and she has been betting me that Army will win almost every year since we met in 2004. She finally got the hint that resistance is futile last year, but I have the idea that she is going to try and bet me again. We must crush this nonsense once an for all, so I can go back to rooting for my failing Seminoles :sick_125: :icon_roll

Oh, and I guess it doesn't help I keep threatening to put a Navy Wife bumper sticker or magnet on the back of her Suburban :smile_gre

If you people were actually dense enough to believe that sh!t was real, the JOPA is going to have a lot of fun with you in your fleet squadron.

I'd develop a well-tuned bullsh!t detector. Fast.
