Medals

It was my understanding that to sell military medals was a criminal offense. Are there exceptions? If you found a seller on the internet selling medals, is there a way to report them?

If this needs to go offline, I understand.

Thanks

There are dozens of online vendors which sell medals to both military members and collectors. As far as I know, buying and selling medals is legit with the exception of the MoH.

I had thought it was only authorized dealers to authorized buyers. So, then there are no problems with selling Purple Hearts?

It becomes illegal when you portray yourself as having earned the medals when you haven't, i.e. wearing them on a uniform at miliary funerals and such.

To add on, it's not illegal to collect stuff like that. There are a lot of guys who collect medals/uniforms/other militaria for the pure enjoyment.

However, if those collectors buy the stuff and then wear it while saying they earned them is when it becomes illegal, like Ken said.
