Step 2: don't get too caught up in figuring out 'the process' and just work your ass off the whole way through. Too many unknowns to waste your time with and you never know, the gung ho jet stud may spit up all over themselves at 3g's and free up a slot for you.

You're surprisingly astute for a cone. Well said.

So, what ut said. The 'process' is very complex, the factors you can influence are very few, and you're far more likely to screw yourself than succeed when trying to game a system you don't understand. There's no magic formula or secret to it. Do your best, study your ass off, talk to the Doc if you're sick, and wear brown shoes. Maybe you'll get what you want, maybe you won't. It's all flying, it's all fun and exciting in one way or another, it all beats the hell out of working at Sears.

One pink sheet isn't so bad. It's not the end of the world. Like utswimmer said, the entire API program counts for half a flight at primary. He just has to keep pressing on and focus on that prized flight suit. The way I look at it, he is still on track to become an aviator until brass says otherwise.
