Random Griz Aviation Musings

Sierra Nevada 747-800 in the pattern doing lots of touch and go's today. This airplane is out of the Dayton Airport completion center where SN is converting 5 former Korean Airlines 747-800 to E-4C Airborne Command Post, replacing the 747-200 based E-4B

Reminder kids, fly / drive it all the way through the crash.

And don't scream on the radio - you might live!

Funny you should mention this... I was landing on I-10E yesterday evening, making an approach from the north which meant flying over I-10W. As we cleared the trees and I started coming down a car and/or semi went whizzing underneath us and it was at that point I said, "Oh, the west bound lane is still open..." This fact was glaringly obvious to all three of us before we started the approach, but I think my brain was just so used to them usually shutting down both directions. It wasn't a huge deal (at least to us) since it was still a divided highway, but just not normal to see a semi appear from underneath you.

It's probably even money if anyone actually noticed us since it seemed most people just have their face planted in their phone while driving now.
