Random Griz Aviation Musings

Inevitable that the acquiring private equity firm would start looking for synergies. I predict we are going to see a merger of the FD pro and foreflight products... It's unfortunate but inevitable for the bean counters.

Another great product, about to be enshittified.

Spring 1989, North Atlantic - H2P @ChuckMK23 doing a little VERTREP....we had recently lost the port side escape door after it vibrated loose during a FCF maintenance autorotation the previous week. The Powers that be were batshit crazy we didn't conduct a "SAR" for the door after we filed the HAZREP and TFOA reports.

A few months later, I experienced an inflight engine failure on this very aircraft. It was summertime by then and the HAC absolutely would not jettison the AUX tank for fear of consequences of losing equipment.

That same summer, also in this aircraft, flying with my OIC, who after discovering we were well over max gross takeoff weight aboard an LHA, and not wanting to fess up to the Airboss, we took off using a full deck running takeoff and nearly crashed once we attempted to land on single spot Mom due to power settling.

Fun times!

Nice! I was on the older 1055 (Hepburn), this is the Hewes, built as a “flag ship” version. My ship was decommissioned about three years after I left.
