Seriously .... since everyone is so serious here.....some would say "constipated" .... to address your "has it changed from back-in-the-day" query:

Of course it has. We didn't "sweat" it (no pun). We didn't have to be "scheduled" for PT. We didn't do it to impress the men. Didn't have to as most of the men were in ... let's say "average" shape. And Ohhhh .... those Chiefs :). Ohhhh , my God.

We had tough physical standards to pass to get in and get our Wings. We had an annual PFT to pass --- and knew it. We smoked, drank, kept bad company and worse hours. But as no one was "telling" us to stay in shape --- we were "self-motivated" to keep in shape.

Funny thing is .... every time there was an emergency, a life-threatening situation, a fire, an injury .... all hands performed like Olympic athletes ---- In spite of our youthful excess, tofu abstinence, and neandrethal-like ignorance. :) And that's where it counted ....

By the way ... you WILL die early from being too serious, guys. And from eating tofu ...

Man, I would hope you weren't trying to impress any men.
Not "any" men --- OUR men.

Sure we tried to --- impress 'em --- all the time. We were the point of the spear ... the "finished" product of their collective efforts, if you will. And THEY liked it --- the local "old guy" E-Men still tell sea stories about LT so-and-so and LCDR such-and-such and their exploits ... good and bad. :)

Usually we tried to "impress" them with a good dive-bombing score. Not how many push-ups we could do. Nothing says, "Thanks, Men" like a 50' CEP .... ;)

Except a 20' CEP....
Video game-gear assists and electronic$ don't count. (Although I wish we had some :))

Try it ironsight, sport. :)

And even then ... once in a while, on a good day, in a far, far better place --- a BULLSEYE CEP. Believe it ....

Oh....you mean I can use my HUD/DMT/SMC/INS for this comparison? I should have said less than 20' CEP.
I worked the YUMA ranges, too. Ain't no way a Harrier can out-ironsight bomb an A-4 or a "good guy" in an A-6. Just ain't gonna happen ... we're not talking once ... or twice ... or thrice.

When you get 50' ironsight average CEP for 9 years and win a couple of Bombing Derby's and have the A-7 drivers (with systems) sweating bullets and final scores ... come back an' see me ....

Until then ... I think I'll go fly my 747 ... :sleep_125

It's too bad we can never put this competition to the test. I love bombing derbys.

Let me know if you'll ever be in Yuma again and I'll get you in the sim.

I'll have to wait awhile for the airlines. Just as soon as I'm done having fun, that's my plan. Should I be worried?

Huh?? Bombing Derby ??? I'll bring my 747 ... there's probably already a few parked in the desert.

And worried ??? Don't worry ... be happy. ..... Just ALWAYS check your "6".

To be clear, I'm not at all worried about losing a bombing derby. I'd love to see the old man show his old school pipper-to bull skills (seriously). Did you ever fly an A-4M? Didn't they have ARBS? All I flew was the TA-4J that had the old "depression wheel sight".

I am, however quite worried about my future airline possibilities.

Just be nice to the P-3 NFOs who have become civilian airline pilots - a lesson the Webmaster learned early.....:D

(I'll be back and we'll be hiring by the time you're ready John)

No problem. Which reminds me, was that your bottle of scotch I found sitting on a stack of cash? If so, where do I need to send it?

By the way, I am very supportive of NFOs. Just ask TurnandBurn.
