hey everybody,
had a couple questions on the prt b/c i've still yet to do one and am scheduled to on wed. for the pushups, can you stop at any time to catch a breather? if so, does it have to be in the up position, down position? what about situps? what is the order of the prt; situps then pushups then run? just want to get the facts so i can practice the same way ill be testing. thanks guys. LETS GET MORE ACTION IN THE CHAT ROOM!

As far as the order of the PRT/PFT, you do the toe-touch first, then the push ups, sit ups, then on to the 1.5 mile run. I think the "rule" on sit-ups is that you have to rest in the up position, and the same with the push-ups. They'll brief you on all of that before you take it, though.

One thing to keep in mind about the Navy's "great" new PRT (PFA) program, is that you can only score as high as your weakest event. Example (and nobody better laugh): At my last PRT, I knew that I could not run faster than 10:00 (Excellent Low). So, even though I knew I could max the push-ups and sit-ups, I only did 90 and 74, respectively (Excellent Medium, or one category higher).

I've heard that the Navy is re-thinking the scoring system, but until they make a change, you're better off conserving energy on your strong events for use on your weaker events.
