Thanks, guys. Bean Fighter, thanks a million. I work at the airport in big ole Nacogdoches as a "line service specialist"
. I haven't started actual lessons yet, though I have a few hours flight time with friends. I have a little stick time in a T-28, (like an hour), Bonanzas, Mooneys, and the illustrustrius Cessna 172. I have a friend who owns a T-34 Mentor II, in fact I helped him with the annual on it. It is my desire to at least have my instrument rating and if I can talk my friend into it, getting checked out in his T-34. I have also the possibilty to get some ME turbine time in a King Air 90 and possible a brand new 200. If it will help any I will do what ever it takes.
I have not contacted a recruiter as of yet. I won't graduate for at least another 2 yrs, but it will be with a double major in physics and history. My GPA is isn't that great, 2.7 (SFA doesn't have the greatest mathematics department), right now I am trying to bolster my GPA before contacting a recruiter. I have, however, started physical training with the training regimen suggested on the official OCS website. So, I can have the best physical showing, when I contact the recruiter. I have my copy of the Arco book the on the way. So I am doing the best that I can right know. I would apply now, but my GPA is too damn low. I am working hard on it though.
Should I take the ASTB ASAP or hold off until I get ready to apply? How much weight does your letters of recogmendations hold? I know I can get a letter from a former AF test pilot and an Amercian Airlines Captain, who are both good friends of mine. I also will need to have PRK before I apply. So I have to scrape up the money for that as well. Any suggestions?
