I lurk way more than I post, but I can't resist...I grew up in Armadillo country. Shot them with rimfires, centerfires, shotguns and pistols, I even got one with a baseball bat and a good golf swing. IIRC they can't see very well and go by smell, and somewhat hearing, they feel vibrations very well, alas the sneak attack. If scared, they can jump as high as about 2 feet, and will hum like a motor while running very fast away from you, quite entertaining I might add. If you can corner one in a hole, their legs are very strong and they will dig in and brace, so grabbing them by the tail to pull them out can be a task, try poking a stick around their 4th point of contact to make them blush and release their grasp. Their claws are very sharp, so becareful if you get one by the tail and they start wiggling in circles. You can always put a little spray paint racing stripe on them if you want to track 'em. As for eating, a little greasy for my taste, raccoon is much better.
