Places to live in Corpus

I am going to assume you are asking about the Q. Long term rooms are pretty sparse (i.e. no dishwasher, although the washers and dryers were two doors down and were free if that matters to you). I had no belongings when I got there, just my uniforms, a car, and a few pairs of civies so it worked for me. I ate off paper plates and plastic utensils for the 6 months of primary. It didn't bother me at all but I can imagine there are a few girly men who might complain. There is a full size fridge and microwave in each room. I bought a small tv since the long term rooms didnt have one. Downstairs in the main lobby there are a couple pool tables and a big screen with cable. One of the base pools is across the street, the gym is a 5 minute walk, and the o-club is across the street next to the pool (pretty good burgers there). The way I see it, it's better to have friends with the cool party house and the boat, rather than you paying jet-ski/boat insurance and cleaning vomit off the living room floor.

I lived at Baypoint and loved it, community was awesome, great view, management was very professional and pretty easy to work with. The only gripe I really had was the kitchen was pretty small. I think we were paying 1275 for a 3 BR with water view. The pool area was money. Highly recommend you check it out if you can.

Ditto on Baypoint. Only 5 minutes from base (3 if you drive like me).

I don't know if they still do it anymore, but when I went through Corpus, I lived at the Omni hotel downtown for $500 a month. Not a bad deal at all.

Before I moved there I was checking apartment listings online. A lot of the ones that came up were on Airline Dr. As a general rule, don't live on Airline, it's not exactly the best area of town. Like I said before, I lived at baypoint, and it was really nice. I knew someone that lived at Sugartree, which is right next to baypoint, and they liked it well enough. There's also Harbor View, which is near baypoint as well that's not too bad.

Not to mention many a time i strolled down to the pool and there would always be a nice view there, and i'm not talking about the waterfront...:icon_wink

Also stay away from The Rental Management Company. I know that in a previous post I said they were OK, but the person that worked with our property is no longer there and they are pretty worthless now. I'm currently taking legal action to get the other half of my security deposit back after they took 350 out for bogus charges.

Don't live at Walnut Ridge it sucks: bugs, loud bass from cars all hours of the day (usually at night), exercise facilities are seriously busted, pools are tiny, it just sucks all around. It is across the street from Whiskey River so that is one plus.

Do live at The Reserve on Saratoga. Really nice, new apartments, new exercise equipment, free Starbucks coffee, close to bars/clubs on staples, 8 miles from base, HEB walking distance, just so much nicer.

The people who work the rentals at Century 21 on the Island are incompetant as well. Roomate and I found a property that we were going to rent through them. Only after taking our rental application fees and running credit checks did they decide to tell us that the owner of the place didn't want to rent to us because we were flight students (after being told it wasn't a problem)... the lady we delt with there was an idiot and couldn't get all of information correct beforehand and of course they wouldn't refund our money even though it was her mistake.
