Beaches are nice during spring break. Many non-locals who still think military pilots are cool. You just have to be convincing that you're one of them.
Arkham's got a point... albeit I'd never stoop to telling a local that I'm a "military pilot". It suffices to say that some women (not that I have any experience with this) will bite into the "I'm an NFO... I basically tell the pilot where to go and how to get there".
But to answer the question at hand, there's enough of a night life between P-Cola Beach and Destin/Ft. Walton (a bit of a hike, but fun) and points in between to keep you occupied on the weekends and enough in P-Cola and the surrounding area for the week.

Going out the main gate during API I always saw the "Dawg House". The sign says "Hot Bartenders, Ice cold beer". First, the sign was full of sh*t. Talk about an absolute dump, don't waste your time.
They recently got a new paint job and the name has changed, can't remember to what.

No, the Nail is a class A sh!thole. Real local 'neck bar. But it wouldn't kill you if you went in, I did a few times.

You're a pussy if that was your excuse Fly. They were extremely friendly. I also made a foray into Betty's Bluegrass Bar on Blue Angle north of 98, way out there. That place was worse than the Nail. One of the dudes in there told me I looked like Ryan Newman and bought me a beer.
It's not that bad but not that good. I give you two little words that IMO, blows away all other US duty stations............San Diego. You want good times, hot chicks, great weather? Of course then you will have to be a pilot and a pilot of a COD or helo........unless of course you're a Marine.
