Pipeline switch?

I just got picked up for NFO after my NROTC unit submitted my package a few months ago... That's great, don't get me wrong... But I had pilot marked as my first choice. Is it possible to resubmit my package for another shot at being an aviator? What are my other options aside from getting number 1 in API? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

No

You don't have to get #1 just top 10%.

Other than that you could wait till you get to the fleet and then after your first fleet tour ask for a redes. I think they allowed 1-3 last year.

I did it. After MEPS said I had no depth perception, and didn't tell me, I was awarded a NFO spot. I said no thanks, and re-submitted for pilot. And that was that.

Edit: This wasn't for ROTC, but for OCS.

So why do you want to switch? Try the search function.

There used to be a nfo-to-pilot but I don't believe thats availible anymore.

From the most recent book I've read, Airwarriors, I recall it stating that even if you get an NFO to Pilot position, that you still are no allowed to fly any solo piloted aircraft.

not the case these days

Yeah, we had a Prowler guy a couple years ago transition and he's now flying C model Hornets.

The program is very small because of the risk bringing a great NFO (that's how they get selected for NtP, it's about being a great officer, not potential to be a good stick) back for Not Observed TRACOM/FRS FITREPs while he retreads and his contemporaries are out getting good tickets on shore duty.

When he does get back to the Fleet, he's now a "senior" new guy pilot competing with other guys that have a complete tour under their belts as pilots.

The biggest risk is if he attrites from training, then you have just lost a great NFO for good as his career is pretty much ruined.

As for transitioning before you get into training, CNATRA has plenty of SNAs in the pipeline right now, they are still trying to work off an excess from last year. I'm not saying don't try, because you deinitely should, just don't get your hopes up too high.
