I have a copy and am using it to study for the Aviation information section of the ASTB (which I am taking January 18th). From all who have taken it are there any sections I should focus on or does the test try to cover as much information as possible?

The only questions I seen came from the flight characteristics, airplane (flaps, landing gear, etc), and airport stuff (light meanings, colors, taxiways, etc). You don't need to know weather, navigation, airspaces, etc... It is very basic on the ASTB. Good Luck!
 
Ok, thanks for the help. Also, do you guys know if that fighter pilot package offered by Maj. Ed Rush is worth the money? Anyone have experience with that?

Thought I'd throw my two cents in on the Pilot's Handbook. That's a really good source of information for those starting out with no aviation experience. I read and studied most of that text prior to taking the ASTB and it was great. Not having any prior flight time, I would have been otherwise out of luck with even such simple questions as simple as airport lighting (this sticking out in my mind as one of the questions I missed). :) Studying that in addition to the test prep books and a couple internet sites ought to serve you well. Seth, Welcome to AirWarriors. There is a thread about the Ed Rush "training" package, please use the AWESOME search function. Have a look around, most of the questions you have are located in other threads. Spend about 1-2 weeks reading, then ask away. Start here then check out this section for ASTB GOUGE.
