Pilot vs. NFO Promotions

One of my old MEU COs was a 53 pilot. Right now 11th, 13th, and 26th MEUs have COs who are pilots (according to their websites).
 
Being a Prowler pilot is pretty sweet. As of right now there are no prowler pilots that are MAG CO's, prowler squadron CO's or XO's. Next year we finally get one pilot CO YEAH!!! and he's a good guy
 
More MEU(SOC) questions:
1) Are the Aviators that command MEU(SOC)s typically CH-47 pilots?
2) Before commanding the MEU(SOC) do Aviators typically command the ACE?

1) We don't use 47s, 46s instead. Visit the MEU websites to read the COs' histories.
2) The ACE is actually a composite squadron, commanded by a Lieutenant Colonel. MEU COs are Colonels.
 
Thanks Crowbar, that darn 7 is right next to the 6 on the keyboard. I'll check the MEU websites, I just reread Tom Clancy's book Marine and it gave me food for thought.
