phrog catches fire

I love how the civilian camera operator is in the way putting everyone in peril! Is my assessment correct on the video?
I don't think so - it was a civilian media crew that was being flown off the ship. He had his camera going to film the flight, and when the fire broke out - he simply kept the camera running. Hence the reason it's so jerky because he's not carrying it on his shoulder.

Heard a tale that the HAC punched out and the 2P shut it down...

Just a couple of points:

-There are no "Land Immediately" EP's for the Phrog
-Pulling the Fire T-Handle cuts the fuel/oil, but the engine can run for up to 30 seconds, as the shut off solenoids are not co-located with the engine
-The new seats blow: less armor coverage, always water logged, lumbar support held on by velcro (immediately lost), and "new and improved" 5 point harnesses (just like the T-34). They are virtually identical to the ones in the shitter
-The retrofit of the new seats (and removal of the 90 lb vibration dampeners under the cockpit) shifts the CG of the aircraft even further back, which prompted new SOP's for fast roping using the Schlomer frame

Any questions?

What are the qualifications for Phrog HAC?

In MAG 16, once you have hit 500 total hours you can be put into the HAC syllabus. After dept head/ human factors board concurs, the first step is a board, where reps from ops, maintenance, doss, and a WTI at a minimum grill you for an hour or so on SOP's, EP's, tactics, systems, and scenario based decision making. From there you've got two HAC review flights with a stan pilot, one day and one night. Finally, you have a HAC check with the CO, usually flown at night.

If you hit 600 hours and you aren't in the syllabus, a letter has to be sent to the MAG CO.
