Not only are old C&R surplus arms dirt cheap and shoot dirt cheap ammo, they have some history, have interesting designs and mechanisms, are fun to shoot, have a big kick and an extremely loud report, are relatively accurate (if you get one with a decent bore)............ and they also can serve to fill up a blank space high up on a den wall (as pictured below).
While they can't compare to USGI, their price doesn't either, making many of them a great "beater" with a lot of bang for the buck.
Pictured below – a Swiss K-31 ( $160, and extremely accurate) and a Mosin-Nagant M-38 ($79 at Big 5).
(N.B. All my good stuff is kept securely elsewhere in a safe.)
Gotta go update my C&R logbook now…I've been lagging.
Do you log your stuff in a permanently bound logbook type or will a looseleaf do? What info are you logging? Unless O'Malley does something REALLY stupid (which he may) the C&R is kinda a pain in the ass and gives that much more info on oneself.
