I bought a Peloton Bike+ in June. They give a pretty good military/first responder/medical professional/teacher discount, and I really enjoy spin classes so it worked out for me.

I'm totally in the cult now and I'm doing at least 3 rides a week and adding in some of their strength and yoga/stretching classes. They even have road running classes where you just listen through your phone.

Anyone else join the cult and have the bike or tread or row and use it for something other than to hang laundry?

@mad dog is a big Peloton guy ....

I’ve had the original bike since COVID. It’s been a great purchase. I especially like the multi-week programs, and I’m a big fan of the gym programs in the newish strength+ app, especially the feature that gives you a option of customizing workouts based on available equipment. Some of the instructors are ungodly annoying, but ones like Matt Wilpers and Alex Toussaint help balance it out.

I have a water drum rower to which I’m a bit addicted. It is good exercise and I tend to find a zone where I can sort of get lost in it. Of even greater surprise, my 10 year old (Chuck Norris approved!) Total Gym keeps me lifting without all the weights - pretty basic, but a great, solid machine that I can supplement with rubber bands for a good workout.

No, I am NOT a big Peloton guy…I will only utilize them at layover motel gyms only if there are no other cycling trainers [that have watts] available. From my experience, these layover motel gym Pelotons don’t work about 50% of the time…updates not current, stripped seat post hardware, Watts calibration waaaaaay off, blah, blah, blah. I have about 50 rides on various Pelotons, but will avoid them if able.

@Swanee sorry, i didn't read all the way to the bottom of your original post. We have the bike, the Tread+ (slatted deck as opposed to the belt), and my wife does a lot of their row classes with our Concept2 rower. Wife also does a lot of their yoga classes through Roku app.

Is the tread+ worth double the cost of the belt tread?

There's a Roku app? I did not know that.

My bike+ came with a free guide. It's still sitting on the box.

We bought the Tread+ before the newer version was available. That was almost six years ago - no issues. It gets daily use - mostly from wife. But I have put a lot of miles on, and i'm not built like a gazelle....it's VERY durable. The newer version of the tread came out after a lawsuit was brought following an accident involving a young child getting caught under the deck. There seems to have been a "fix" put in place that allowed them to resume selling the Tread+. I think the biggest advantage of the Tread+ (slatted deck) vice belt is that you dont have to worry about doing regular belt adjustments with the Tread+. We dont have small children to worry about and our dog is not at all interested in getting close to the thing - so we dont have those safety concerns.

I think you could probably do the yoga classes through the screen on a bike or tread, but she uses the Roku app so she can do the yoga classes in her "yoga room."🤷‍♂️
