Can I get a PCS to Pensacola directly after I earn a commission through OCS or do I need to wait until after API to get the PCS?

I am leaving for OCS from Los Angeles and I am wondering how long it will be before I can bring my personal belongings with me. My fiance is planning to stay here until I get a PCS.

Does anyone have information on this? After OCS or after API (when I know where I will be going for PFT)?

Thanks,
ASLAM

Your PCS as you call it stands for Permanent Change of Station and there are many things associated with that. One of those things is your household goods shipment. Once you finish OCS and get an apartment you should be able to contact the personal property office and arrange the shipment. Alot is going to depend on your orders to school and what they say you are authorized. Hope this helps. I think you should be able to find allowances on the dfas.mil or just type "household goods allowances" in google. Hope it helps, Rob

It will be after API, unless you are NFO. If you are pilot, you won't get PCS orders until you go to Primary. API is considered TDI or whatever....temporary.

Thanks for the information all. I had figured that most likely I would not be allowed a PCS to P-cola during API since I might be moved shortly to another location for PFT.

Does anyone have any idea what the average delay is between the time of OCS graduation and API start?

I'm coming from Los Angeles and if I get stashed I'd really want to return here to be with my fiance especially since we will miss each other while I am at API.

Thanks again,
ASLAM

Again, the wait depends on if you are pilot or NFO. There isn't much of a wait for pilots. For NFO, it is a different story. I think the average wait is about 5 months. I'm not sure if they'll let you go back home, but you can ask. More than likely, you'll get a stash job somewhere on base.

There is a speed limit when taxing officer?
It has been awhile since there have been responses to this topic and a lot of the previous info may be old? I am active duty and have been selected for SNA, when would I get PCS orders so that I may move my family, before or after API?

digger,

I am currently at OCS, in my 12th week. I just received my orders to API, and on these orders it says where I chose to go for Primary: Whiting Field. Because on my orders it says where I will be going to Primary (that's what my detailer...Mr Clark..said), I am authorized a Home of Record move once I graduate OCS. I have already been to the PPO (Personal Property Office) and have set up the move, so I know for a fact it worked. I was told it is impossible to get a Home of Record move until I graduate API (when I get my real orders to Whiting Field for Primary), until the day before I got my orders to API. These are my experiences, and I have heard both sides. But, when you get your orders to API, and it says (Ultimate Duty Station: Whiting Field), then you should be good to go on your Home of Record move (if that's what you're talking about here). Hope that helps.

I have just recived my orders today and they state that I may move my family from my current overseas duty station, only if I get a letter from the region commander or my local PSD. Any active duty who have gone through this type of PCS move?
