Okay, over and over people are asking about how to pass the ASTB. First, some background. I am a 21 year old BDCP applicant that took the ASTB for the second time today and passed with flying colors. My recruiter said that my scores were very competitive, now the thing is, I didn't score high enough on the test the first time for an SNA slot. Anyway, I surfed around and with the help of many people on this board I devised an ultimate set of tools with which to study. If you spend a mere 1 hour a day on this stuff for a minimum of 30 days you will be FINE for the test.

1) The marine corps ASTB prep. exam (located on the web, search around here for the web address).

2) Arco's Guide to Military Flight Apptitude Gests

3) Mechanical and Spatial Relations Test (also by Arco)

4) How to Solve Word Problems in Algebra (by Mildred Johnson and Tim Johnson)

Using these tools there is no reason why you cannot pass the exam. I figured this website has helped me so much so far through my application process that I would give a little back. Now, all I have left is the PFT and my application packet is complete. Goodluck!

What is SNA?

Are you recommending the Marine Corps ASTB prep exam for both Navy and Marine pilot candidates?

My apologies if these questions are deemed "stupid." I am new...

SNA= Student Naval Aviator (if you get a pilot slot this is what you are designated prior to winging) You might want to remember that if you haven't taken the ASTB you may see that somewhere. *Hint*

ASTB to my understanding is the same test used by both the Navy and the Marines. I have only taken it with the Navy, but this is just what I have been told. I do know that looking at that prep, it has a lot of the actual questions that are on the ASTB.

You'll find on this forum that no questions are stupid, and you really don't have to worry about getting flamed for asking anything, or adding your opinion.

Anyone know what the actual web address is for the ASTB prep exam?

I have been browsing through the forums for the past hour and haven't found an address.

I also tried a couple Google searches with no results =/

Thanks

I was also trying to get the Marine ASTB sample but both links provided in one of these sub topics are closed. Anyone have a copy or link that works?? Thanks.

Palmer and DDriver, I'm in the same boat guys. I've been searching for this thing for the last few days and haven't been able to locate it yet. It seems to have been passed around by some of the vets of the foum, but I haven't recieved much in the way of help from any of them besides "look on the web for it." When are you guys planning on testing. Myself-- hopefully the end of July.

If you're interested, I did find a link to some pretty good info about the format, philosophy, and scoring of the ASTB. I think that knowing and understanding how a test is designed is as much of an aid as any study guide. If you want to check it out its at http://www.nomi.med.navy.mil/directorates/astb2.pdf

Good luck,
Chris
