Double-Stack 1911s are an affront to all that is sacred.
Why? I don't read gun mags, frequent those forums, et al. I have been through quite a bit of training (for a squid) during my career, but all on the stock .45, Baretta, SIG, etc... Just wondering why you consider it an affront.

As for the pre-owned comment with the SIGs. I keep seeing rebates on them when I am deployed, and it seems I can pick one up for around a grand. Are there better deals on them that I am missing?

Thanks,

John

Some gripe because it is not how JMB designed it.

I love the 1911 design. However, I wanted/needed more capacity than 7 or 8+1. So I got a doublestack.

Maybe the price is up in Hawaii, but you should be able to get a brand new Sig w/ night sights for $850 or less.

It's blasphemy. Plus ... if you can't "hit it" w/ 7 or 7+1 rounds .... you can't "hit it", period ... :)

Depends on what you want "it" for, also .... as a full-size double-stack 1911 w/ the equivalent of two magazines is HEAVY for carry -- 'course you can't carry legally in the Territory, in any case ... :) If it's for "home defense" ... there's probably better options.

Speaking of the Territory ... I've found that ANY new handgun sold across the counter in the few and far between licensed Bruddah dealers is @ 33% higher than on the mainland.

Eh, I am moving "soon", away from all the craziness associated with da islands... and alas, all that is good too.

I am going to purchase the SIG regardless when I get back to the mainland. I plan on spending time with my teenage daughters shooting, and going through gun safety, cleaning, and how to shoot both a handgun and a rifle. Their grandpa and I should have fun with that, and they both are interested.

The PARA USA ad just ended up in my work email inbox, and I was wondering what everyone thought about it.
