USN P-8's and The Boom

Was surprised to see in this morning's new brief, word that the Navy P-8 community reached IOC with boom based refueling from USAF KC-135's.

Are P-8 drivers the only ones trained in receiving gas from a boom, vs the old standard probe/drogue?

Its an interesting change - wonder if F-35C has the capability to receive gas via a non-CV based tanker with a boom...

You also only get 1/4 the flow rate via the basket vs. the boom (5,000 lbs / min from the boom vs. 1,200 via the drogue).
