Osprey's training question.

Osprey training question.

Can anyone on here answer me this question? I'm Whiting Field, If I finish up Primary and were to select Ospreys - how does the move work since I have the go over to Matsg22 for props. Do you have to do a full PCS or can you go TAD (since you don't do the full syllabus right?). Per Diem and BAH back in P-cola would amazing (have family). But then again two DLA's (in the matter of months) would be nice as well. Kill.

I admire your aggressiveness, Devil Dog. However:

Osprey's = something that belongs to an Osprey
Ospreys = more than one Osprey

IIRC, you're only allowed 1 DLA payment for each fiscal year. So, that shouldn't be a consideration.

My guess is that you do two PCS moves and wouldn't be eligible for per diem.

The only good information I can give you is that the helo portion of the syllabus is extremely short for the Osprey guys.

How could you only be allowed 1 DLA payment when you could be making more than 1 PCS move in a fiscal year? Doesn't make sense....

DLA is authorized. Osprey bubbas do the full syllabus here, almost. My class is the one where the syllabus was changed. Their syllabus follows the AF syllabus pretty closely in VT-35, and their time to train is like 95 days; Navy is around 99 days, AF is like 104?

Ugh.
My husband is an Osprey student (back in the HTs) and we PCSed both times. TAD isn't an option. 2 DLAs. And for the record, it took him 6 months in Corpus.

Any questions, PM me and I'll pass them along, or get you in touch with him.

You can get 2 DLA's in a year. After the first you get a reduced amount. http://perdiem.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/dla-2008-01-01.pdf

The HT syllabus is not much shorter. You don't do BI flights, RI sims or RI flights. What makes it faster is that BI's are where a lot of people hit a delay. Early fams have to fly everyday as do completers and people who are getting ready to solo (RIs). So when someone has to sit it is usually BI's.
