Is it some twisted joke? Why are there so many speed signs on interstates and highways in Oregon at 50 and 55? I was driving down I-5 from washington then I hit portland and the speedlimit goes from 70 to 50 and I'm wondering why everyone is going slow as hell.

I do like the fact that every gas station is full service though. BTW, is it just me or gas prices ridiculous right now?

You sure you were driving through Oregon, and not I-10/110 in Pensacola? Oh, wait, that's right - our interstates range from 40-45 mph.

Welcome to the Democratic People's Republic of New Jersey. I didn't pump my own gas until I was 18 and stationed in Little Creek. Mandatory full-service gas is a slow, unnecessary waste of time and money. Lord knows, I am physically incapable of swiping a card, pressing a button, and squeezing a handle.

More often than not, gas stations in Jersey are operated with a ratio of one attendant (usually a Pakistani or a high school dropout) per 100 cars that are at the station at any given time. Getting gas in Jersey is an all-day outing - bring the kids!

BTW, is it just me or gas prices ridiculous right now?

It's just you.

We're paying $.99 in Milton, and I think it's up to $1.09 in Pensacola.

If you look even harder in the remote areas of Milton, you can find it a few cents cheaper per gallon.

I got a $75 ticket for pumping my own gas in NJ. First time I was ever there... And is it just me... or does NJ smell? As soon as I cross the Del. Memorial Bridge you get this awful stench.

He'll dazzle you with terms like "Code Red."
The funny thing about the NJ full-service regs is that the gas station attendants always break all the chickensh*t little rules about what you're not supposed to do pumping your own gas, like I'm not supposed to leave the car and go do something else while it's filling or top off the gas tank multiple times, but someone else can do it for me. Gotta love the turnpike, though. Nothing like doing 80 in the right lane and getting passed. IMHO Delaware is the state on the eastern seaboard that doesn't need to exist. I have to slow down to 50 mph and pay 8 bucks just for the privilege of spending 15 minutes in that miserable leach of a state that happens to be filling up space between more worthwhile places.

And then you have to figure out why traffic comes to a standstill at MM 4...for no reason whatsoever.

Maryland is rich, too, with their randomly-placed $5 tollbooth. At least you expect to be bent over by the tollbooth operators in Jersey.

But we have to pay for the nice welcome centers! And as crappy as MD is, I'll take MD over NJ any day of the week.

And twice on Sunday.

(Especially since you can't buy a beer 'til noon or so on Sundays in Joisey.)

No, no...move to Hawaii and then say that. We're paying $2.60 out here. Also, the speed limits around here max out at 50 - 55, though we don't have tribal "police" trying to give people bs tickets. Do they still have places around Washington and Oregon with 15 mph limits?
