Well, if both guys got into OCS, they would know their designator heading in. The Navy won't send someone to OCS they don't have a spot for (in other words, if both were accepted to OCS as supply, both are going to have a supply billet after OCS). Just sh!tpicking 'cuz it's monday morning.
Another thought, Colin Powell made it to General, and he went to City College of New York. I think performance by far outweighs where you went to school.
