OHARP Question

My husband did his OHARP in Minnesota, although his home of record was Michigan. At first he was told that he wouldn't get BAH because he was expected to live at home. But when he came to Minnesota, NRD here got the paperwork in for him to receive BAH. I am not a 100% sure about this and someone else may be able to help with more accurate information, but I got the impression that if he had done his OHARP in Michigan, he would not have been eligible for BAH.
OHARP answer
I just got back from my OHARP duty and reported at Randolph. I was still getting the Pensacola BAH while I was back in Maryland. My home of record is Annapolis, but they told me that I would still be getting the Pensacola BAH and I would be on No Cost TAD orders (so don't try and get any travel claim money back). All in all it was a pretty good deal, I didn't really do that much except for fax papers and put together some packages. To whoever was asking, OHARP stands for Officer Hometown Assistance Recruiting Program. Any other questions, just holla.

Do we need to take it upon ourself to contact the NRD we want to go to and see if they need extra bodies?
I called the local recruiter back home and they told me to contact NRD Philly.
Also, who exactly to you work with or who should we actually contact? NROTC Recruiter? General Programs Officer? General Officer Recruiter? Thanks!

Apologies for resurrecting this one. I read the instruction and have a few questions:
1- Does this have to be at a recruiting command? Could I help out at a local reserve base or ROTC unit?
2- Is this a one time only deal? I had an ROTC instructor tell me that she was able to get TAD orders like this easily and somewhat regularly as long as she wasn't doing anything---is this true, or is it more of a one shot deal?
3- Is it a big deal for your current command? In other words, does asking to get these orders cut piss off your chain of command?

For it to be "OHARP," yes. But that doesn't mean you can't get no-cost TAD to some other unit. I know there's a guy at Meridian who got n/c TAD to go back to his ROTC unit for a while. Not sure how he pulled it off, though.
Since it doesn't say 'no,' I would say 'maybe.'
TW5 StuCon had no issues w/ me doing OHARP, only as long as it was 30 days, no more, and I had to guarantee no more days were requested by some NRD CO. Otherwise I would be a "dead man" according to the StuConO at the time.
If you want to do OHARP, contact the NRD and find out how you can help first, then present the plan to your command. I assume the same would work well for an ROTC command.
