Wait, what happens if you get rolled into H or get hurt and your 35th birthday passes before you can get commissioned? Are you automatically DQ'd or can you continue OCS?

I've seen some reserve junior enlisted that are old as crap. We had a reserve AD2 that had to be in his 60s; called him blue, and yes he was legit.

I met some Tennessee National Guardsman in Iraq that could have served have fought at Shiloh.

I turn 35 in a few weeks, thus why I was stressing the time it took to do all of this. My OR told me to chill because since I am currently enlisted the age limit was changed higher. I can't remember what he said it was I want to say 37 or 41, honestly cant remember. I just remember being much calmer after he told me. I think he said it was for Intel, SWO and Supply that the age was raised. And I have been Pro-Rec'd for Intel.

Ah, I see, you're enlisted. You get more age limits for that. Consider yourself lucky. I am a civie trying to go OCS but I am running out of time. I'm hoping to get accepted soon so I have enough time to get commissioned by my time limit (March 2009). My app was supposed to have been finished and turned in June which would have given me plenty of time. But because my recruiter is new and unfamiliar with the process, we keep getting the app returned with more paperwork needed etc. I'm worried my time limit will expire before I even get in the door.

Congratulations on being pro-reced for Intel, that's so awesome. I think once you are pro-recced then final selected, you will be ok. I'm hoping my package is competitive enough that the board will really like me and want me even though the age limit is cutting it real close.

Anyway, now I am a 43 YO Hinge...and I kind of blend in with all the OLD O-4s.

Amen to that, brother! Although I enjoyed being a LT, especially a 40+ year old LT (since it's not a hard job if you have ~20 years experience), I did cause eyebrows to raise now and again. Now I'll just look like any other passed over O-4 biding his time....
