waiting not so patiently for OCS...
Okay, I've been pro-rec'd for SNA, NFO, and SWO and I've already done my physical at MEPs as well as passed my first PRT. I've been physically qualified as well for NFO & SWO and should hear back about SNA this week according to my recruiter.

My recruiter says that I should hopefully hear back about my final selects and hopefully a start date fairly quick, but my question is this:

What kind of next steps and timing should I be expecting from this point?

Thanks in advance for everyone's help. Just found this site the other day and have already seen lots of good advice and helpful members already!

One other question...are the odds pretty good that you'll get final selected if you've been pro-rec'd and physically qualified by the board? I know that spots for OCS are slim pickings, but my recruiter seems to think that my odds are pretty good given everything else. Thoughts?

The future of the Supply Corps
It sounds like you have the market cornered, there. The SNA and NFO pro-recs are difficult to get in the first place, and if you've been cleared through MEPS and done sufficiently well on the PRT, I think all that is really left is for you to choose what designator you want to accept, and sign the final paperwork/swear in. Kudos and much envy to you!

not so fast.....there are plenty of people on this site who were pro recd and non-final select (me included). tis the season now. but good luck regardless.

Graduated 2003 w/ 3.6 GPA
Officer Test 55
SNA/NFO Composites 9/8

I'm hoping that this is good enough! I really don't know what's considered competitive (other than my recruiter told me my scores were). Probably should have done better on the Officer test, but with my liberal arts college background, the engineering/physics threw me off! Oh well. What can you do?

Have you filled out the EPSQ? That's the only part of your FINDOCs that you didn't mention. Other than that, I'd recommend getting prepared physically - even if you don't make it this time, when you reapply you'll be in even better shape. Once you've been accepted you can start working on the NKO courses (a search here should give you more information about them).

Yes, I've already sent off my findocs including the EPSQ. Also, I'm currently working out daily in an effort to increase overall strength & endurance. I've been working out for years, so its mostly increasing endurance, swimming strength, and the requisite situps/pushups.

You guys might laugh but I'm doing a workout that's described as a pre-BUDs conditioning routine. It's pretty d*mn tough as I've tailored it to constantly push my current level of fitness. Includes 2 hours a day of running, swimming, pushups, situps & pullups. Also, I'm still lifting weights 3x week. Even if I don't get selected this time around I'm trying to stay in top shape for them.

Will keep everyone informed of my status. Thanks for the help so far. Trying not to get too excited until I get a start date and swear in, but its pretty hard not to!

OCC 191 Select
Hey kevin, when were you pro rec'd but non final select? I was back in April for SNA. Did they give you any reason? How were your stats.

Well its all about timing, and from I gather the best time is the start of the new fiscal year (after Oct. 1?). So that in any case will give you your best shot, there is a poll around here somewhere about chances of being selected after pro-rec I think it's around 80 something.

Yup, we had everything sent off right before the first selection board of FY '06 (sent out at the end of Sept.) so it sounds like you're right.

My recruiter has been very helpful. I know the stories everyone tells about recruiters, but other than initially pushing me towards supply corps (which I had no interest in) he's been great and I really do trust him. I still doublecheck everything anyone tells me, and so far he's never led me wrong.

--which time (it happened twice). stats didnt matter....i couldve had perfect everything. the reason was "we regret that we were unable to offer you a spot at this time".....very clear. from recruiter input though, it appeared that things were so competitive that the navy was heading in the way of the air force in terms of giving slots only to people who'd racked up tons of flying hours (ie, a ppl wasnt enough). we're talking hundreds and thousands of hours. but that was my recruiter's input (he's a helo driver).
