The last thing I heard from my OSO is that there are only going to be a handful of slots for OCC-186, and those candidates are going to be mixed in with PLC-combined platoons rather than being organized into a separate company.
TNWhiskey- I can sympathize with the problems balancing a job and the possibility (but not guarantee) of shipping off to OCS. This made for a lot of awkward job interviews- "well, I might be shipping off to Quantico in a few months." (The alternative, pretending that I'm actually interested in spending two to three years checking documents for Felcher and Whacker LLP, doesn't fit in too well with the whole "honor, courage, commitment" idea.) Apparently the selection boards prefer to get as many new 2lt's from USNA and PLC as possible so they can project how many new officers they'll have coming a couple of years in advance, and then just use a trickle of OCC people at the last minute to fill out the rounding error (this is basically how my OSO described it to me).
Kimphil- how is your application coming along? Are you looking at OCC next summer now? I decided a few weeks ago for personal reasons not to apply for flight, but I still want to become a Marine Officer through the JAG route, so if all goes well I'll still be in Quantico next summer.
