That's what VT-2 told me when I went through.

Yeah, could be. Could be useful if implemented correctly (ie, someone actually read it).

pretty sure gator is a TW-5 IP.

VT-3 skipper back when I was there did seem to make use of it, he was a real solid guy...heard rumors that he has stars in his future.

VT CO = no star; probably not even a bird

They will consider different parts of Primary for platform selection. For example, if you're just sh!tty at formation, you're not going to end up in the jet pipeline... or a poor instrument pilot will also not end up in the jet pipeline.

There's got to be a certain level of irony in there. A bunch of chopper dudes determining who/what makes the best jet pilots.

rumor has it that he was there to get the CO box checked. same rumor said that he had a lot to do with the conception of homeland security...he was working on it pre 9/11, and was at the pentagon on 9/11 and afterwards his idea got pretty popular.

either way, great skipper.

Actually, in VT-3 a lot of the form guys were AF jet drivers. Did a lot of form with Hog drivers. Plus, there are plenty of helo drivers who fly form, like Marines and HS bubbas.

All COs at training commands are at training commands because they didn’t screen for operational command.

ask most of them, though, and they would rather have a tracom then an operational command....

I agree; why wouldn’t you want TRACOM no enlisted guys, civilian admin, and all the cross countries you can handle.

Reitrment pay for CDR is the same if you are a TRACOM CO or a Fleet CO....

And all the TRACOM COs I know who did not retire made CAPT..

Anecdotal, yes, but I would be happy retiring with a TRACOM CO job for my last tour...

My ultimate? Being that FTS O-5 that has 5000 hours on the NDZ/EYW route alone.... All the pay and none of the CO BS to contend with.

My greatest fear as a CO would be getting anothe me.
