Not home for T-Day?

No Kool-Aid - it's the truth.

I left the town in which I grew up with no intent of ever returning (save a periodic visit with my folks). One of the reasons I joined the Corps was to get out and see this "world" everyone talks about. Since the day (no, the early, early morning :D) I stepped onto the yellow footprints on the Island, I have called many places "home." (Like Carlin once remarked, home is an abstract idea - it is a state of mind.)

Ha. I can second that. I have no intentions of going back to NJ save to visit friends & family. I grew up travelling on the Navy's dollar, and I'm at it again.

Happy Turkey Day bro.

I'm in Bahrain for the second Thanksgiving in a row, but thanks to Ric's Kountry Kitchen, I'm stuffed.

even though I'm deployed, I am still Thankful for the service of those around me. When I was on the ship today I was able to grab 2 plates of turkey & fixin's from the dirty shirt for my Aircrew. They are some hard workin' sumbitches!

Had a few or more drinks there, too. I always thought it was a bit over priced.

Did they have the two filipino guys on guitar?

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I'm spending a rare Thanksgiving with my family today. Seeing as how they were nice enough to drive 10 hours to come see me AND bring a 22lb free range turkey, I figured it would the least I could do is cook said bird and provide the booze. We're already down a bottle of Jameson's, four bottles of 2007 Beaujoulais Nouveaux, a 12 pack of Miller Lite, and Little Brother just walked in with what looks like bourbon. Nice.

I am home alone here in Corpus Eating Whataburger for Thanksgiving, but it's still a lot better than my brethren out on the boat or abroad. Thanks guys....:)

Bozeman Montana for me this year. 7 degrees outside right now. Crystal clear and no wind. Mountains are beautiful.

Thanks to everyone deployed and everyone not deployed who could be.

instead of whataburger....you should have made the jaunt over to wallbangers, joboy. extra guac and sauteed onions on that 1/2 lber!!

Absolutely overpriced - but we had a great turkey dinner as a group. Only place in town to get that I think. We were seated upstairs this time so no guitar players, But I know the duo you mean.

Just got back from Baghdad just in time for Turkey Day. It's nice not being in a combat zone for the holidays. I keep all my forward deployed brothers and sisters in my thoughts and prayers.

Now THAT makes me all teary eyed ... God's country. Enjoy it.

To everyone 'out there', home and abroad - stay safe.
