So, I am walking across the parking lot to lunch at the Navy War College. Parked across from my car('75 Vette convertible) is a red 1980/81 Vette. And next to it is one of these:

Same color scheme with the optional wheels.

Spent some time taking a good look. Very impressive car. The 5.4 DOHC supercharged V8 is a work of art on display right behind the driver. I will admit that I am not a big Ford fan but they did this car right. Worth every penny of the $140 grand.

I have seen a Ferrari, multiple Porsches (too many Cayennes) and a couple of the Mercedes SL's around Newport but this is my favorite. I would have loved to hear it run. I'll take the camera tomorrow and see if I can get lucky.

Oh, and this was on base. The owner is a War College exchange student from one of our coalition partners in the Gulf. Nice to have the Benjamins.

I wish I owned vast fields of oil. Any of you guys seen that crazy Mercedes Frankenstein out of Dubai?

It'd be even cooler if they didn't have a massive recall for cheapy control arms failing. Gotta love any recall that is essentially "DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE"

very cool design though....

I saw a black one at Seville this weekend. Very sweet...even cooler in person than in pix. And I thought I was sierra hotel driving my 350Z to the club. Nope, not cool enough. Guess I'll have to win the lottery or give up the dream of having a roof over my head in order to get one of those.

Nice looking and nice theory. Too bad it has the faulty control arms and the crank seal that leaks oil. Even better that the recall involves shimming the seal instead of installing a new one. (Something I dont think they have done in 20 years) Even under all that beauty, its still a Ford.

Ouch. :)

Road: If you had one of those, do you think you'd need a house? Just go down to the box social and find a pretty lady who will, on account of your auto, invite you to her place. Problem solved. Even if she doesn't, the car has a roof and I'm sure you could train yourself to sleep sitting up.

Edit: This is the thing I was talking about. Straight insanity.

The GT is nice and all, but I'd rather spend that $140K on an Aston Martin DB7 Vantage. It has a V12 that is smoother than silk. I met a girl over the summer whose mom had one and she let me drive it....it was too cool!

Also nugget81, about driving "it", did you mean the car, the girl or the mom?

A true Tailhooker would be driving all three (at the same time).
