Noise suppressors

I can't get any "good advice" during the holidays as most vendors are AWOL for the rest of the year ...

Are .223/5.56mm suppressors "interchangeable" (discounting the obvious = threading) when using 5.7X28mm bullets???

I don't reload, but I'm under the impression that .223/5.56 AND 5.7 use the same bullet: and it's actually a .224 ... ???

If true, it would/should make them "interchangeable".

Anyone?? Buehler??

Theres a few people talking about doing it there. From all the info I could find (not a whole lot...) on the internet it looks like using a 5.56 can on a 5.7 bullet provides enough clearance, but it seems like the manufacturers may tell you not to try it due to that whole thing involving lawyers and them taking peoples money (just-in-case shit hits the fan)...

A question i have, which may guide your (our :)) research is would the higher velocity of the round do anything (possibly over time) to a suppressor for a smaller caliber? I dont know a whole lot about them at this point in the game. I would imagine when they design a suppressor for a particular caliber, they're able to accomodate a little higher velocity than the typical x.xxmm round you will put through. If you put a round of the same size, but much higher velocity, will that do damage to it, or will it just not suppress it "as much" as the slower round? So not so much a question of trying to fit the square peg in the round hole, but more a question of will putting it through too fast "rip the guts out"

edit: I realize thats not the case here, its the other way, but just throwing that out there for the theorey discussion...

Now another question...Are you talking about putting a 5.56mm suppressor on the 5.7 pistol, or did a new toy come in the mail? :D

Thanks for the info ... I could go either way as far as compatibility and/or makes/models are concerned.

Did I get another "toy" ... ???:)

Does a bear shit in the woods ... ???:)

Will the sun rise tomorrow ... ???:)

Is the moon made of green cheese ... ???
