It seems to me that American's have misunderstood the the term "American Values". It doesn't stand for being a perfect Christian, which most think they are but none are. It doesn't stand for coddling children so they end up being screwed because they thought life was going to give them everything. It doesn't stand for censorship.

"American Values" stands for the undenyable right and freedom to shout whatever the fcuk(using this to accentuate my point) you want and from medium use want. The FCC has become a power hungry crazy government agency that resembles most people I know who have problems with things they don't like. The American public is being desensitized to violence, sex and other "objectionable" things but the FCC still cries foul when ****, damn, ****, crap, or any other 4 letter word is uttered. This is an issue that won't go away and needs to be address, the FCC is in violation of the first amendment, yet no one seems to give a damn about that. Americans no longer believe in "American Values", they believe in the oppression that is frightenly reminiscent of Hitler.

I believe in defending the United States with my life because of what the Constitution stands for and is. I will defend every person's right to speak whatever they want, what I will not defend is the oppression of free speech. I heart aches at the thought of what people falsely think "American Values" stands for.

I'm done.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying but the 1st amendment is the most misunderstood part of the constitution (2nd only to the right to bear arms). THe 1st doesn't give anyone the right to say whatever they want whenever they want however they want. This right is about not being oppressed when coming up with an original idea, but you know what your right to shoot your mouth off ends when you enter my world without permission. What I mean by that is that I don't want to hear you f*cking loud *ss stereo when I'm in traffic or hear/read obscenities when I'm watching TV with my 2 year old nephew at 1p.m. The problem is that people aren't being held accountable they are being held liable. People are to afraid of their damn shadow becausr of the fear that some whiney minority group (like PETA) gets offended. Well guess what? I like to eat a big *ss steak made out of ole Bessy and follow it with some jerky made from Bambi! Get out of my life, I don't stop you from eating tofu pancakes and sprout smoothies so leave me the hell alone!

Historically, the First Amendment hasn't protected profanity, slander/libel, "fighting words," or those statements that endanger others (i.e. shouting "fire" in a crowded theater; treason; etc.). It all comes back to the my-right-to-swing-my-fist-ends-at-the-tip-of-your-nose thing; you can express whatever you want to express, but you can't express it in such a way that my ears catch on fire.

The FCC is well within its powers to regulate naughtiness when impressionable young'ns might be around to hear it (which is the reason that none of the good shows come on until 9 pm); it's just that nothing is perfectly black-and-white, and "Mortal Kombat" violence and swearing is completely different from "Saving Private Ryan" violence and swearing.

I aggree that's why I said "The problem is that people aren't being held accountable they are being held liable." People need to be checked but not to the point where they can't exist in a relatively free manner or exist autonomously. The pendulum has swung to far in the direction of "groups" rights and needs to come back closer to individuals rights being protected. I say let natural selction weed a few of them out, then we'll see whose right and whose wrong.

I don't disagree with you. My post was more in response to ducam23; I should have been clearer about that.
