NKO must die!

So, I started my new (private industry) job last week. My IA and company credit card training consisted of, "Here you go, man. Everything's configured, and I'm here all day if you have any problems. Oh, and Kelly asked me to give you your company credit card, too."

I do have a ton of CBT stuff to do, but it's through a Kaplan subsidiary website that actually works.

Do those CBTs happen to use "Authorware?" That's something I've seen only on NKO. Other than being a bandwidth pig, temperamental (some courses only work on IE), and automatically opening ridiculous numbers of extra windows like a porno website... it works great!

Never mind, I already know the answer.

But..but....but....but....how are you going to know not to give your password out to anybody? Or to allow someone into The Vault without ID? How can your IT department function without your completion certificate?

More importantly, how are you going to know not to use the company credit card on hookers and blow?

What's the point of having one if you can't use it on hookers and blow?

That's what I said! But I have to sign a statement of understanding every year that says I won't use it on hookers and blow, or I'll be shipped out on an IA, then put on the group staff, then go on another IA, then get kicked out.

You know, Special Trust and Confidence, and all that jazz.

Right,

Soo how is that different than what would happen otherwise?

I don't see the problem here.

Is this real life???

Everything you said is exactly the same for me. And the Kaplan EduNeering thing is amazingly easy to use, and the quizzes at the end are actually pertinent.

Any my company card is Amex, NBD.

Yeah, it's EduNeering that we use.

And don't anyone think that I didn't make the strip club joke about the company card. The response was essentially, "We don't give a shit, but we're not paying for it. If you do that, make sure you itemize your expense report properly."

My trusty pedometer dohicky tells me I walked 9.2 miles yesterday, only saw someone who qualified as a 'boss' twice during the day (and that was only because the same guy wanted to run smack against the Boat School), and got to brush up on my deadlifting skills helping toss 100kg pharmaceutical drums around. I get paid salary and bonuses for this?

I'm trying to "register" on PCS Smart Move today. I've already used it twice, and yet it doesn't know who I am. So I'm trying set up an account and it requires a 14 character password...for my household goods... Can you imagine if the Taliban got a hold of my goods shipment information? Oh, and apparently they're onto my normal operation because I'm not allowed to use "qwertyui" according to their explainations.

I have yet to successfully log in.

Move.mil blooooooows. Just finished my PCS and I had to do the interview twice. And Pendleton TMO ignored it both times. Thank god I did a full DITY (excuse me, PPM now) or I doubt my shit would ever be moved.

I'm still not entirely sure how all my stuff got to Pensacola. I think I tried 2 different websites, and faxed a whole bunch of stuff, along with establishing an account on one website or another. Just when I thought I was finally done with the the department of defense moving agency or whatever they're called, I received 9 emails over the course of one day telling me to do my post move customer satisfaction survey. When that wasn't completed I had someone call me the next morning and make me do it over the phone. Thankfully it wasn't long, but I'm a little concerned that the most important thing about the whole process wasn't that my stuff got from point A to point B but that I filled out my survey.

Yeah, about the whole "move.mil" thing... I got an email today telling me that, after having completely filled out Smart Web Move, I should have used move.mil. So I spent the morning re-entering everything again...but only after not getting NMCI to be able to load the page directly. <sigh>.

Tried that DPS site for about three days (wouldn't load, timed out, etc.), then finally got fed up and went to the TMO office to have them set things up for me. You know, like they used to do in the not-too-distant past? Turns out they were SOL, too, because they use the DPS website to give us our "counselings" and process the paperwork. Since the site was down, their hands were tied. I did a partial DITY, and I'm currently waiting for my DITY/PPM/whatever it is called this week settlement. I always feel like I'm rolling the dice when I seal the envelope and send it to Albany for processing.

In any event, I, too, have been bombarded with requests to fill out my "satisfaction" survey. I'm not filling that thing out until I get my settlement from the movers for all the shit they broke. (Not that it matters what my survey says; there are so few moving companies out there that a few complaints aren't going to cause any of them to lose their contracts. The moving companies will just continue to sling our shit around without a care in the world, since they're guaranteed payment from Uncle Sam.)

On the flip side I've had really good luck with moving companies. Other than a really, really cheap table I couldn't wait to get rid of, everything I've had has made it intact. Personal property offices, have been another story. Relatively surly civilians who are more concerned with satisfaction surveys than getting their jobs done.
