IMHO while shooting a pistol, anytime you are concentrating on closing one eye and "lining up" your sights you are losing the fight. Especially at night. Hitting what you are shooting at in the dark requires mucho practice. That's difficult for most people to do just because many ranges won't allow it.
+1, Concur absolutely.
I have done quite a bit of tactical pistol and shotgun shooting, and I only close an eye an aim at about 25+ meters. I was taught to basically draw the pistol to the center of my chest and extend it straight forward, so it is presented to the target as fast as possible, and you are basically aiming with your entire body - this way, whatever your eyes are looking at, your pistol is aiming at.
A lot of the ranges I have ran/participated in have courses of fire which are something like: "From the holster, 3 rounds in 2 seconds"
(You want some adrenaline in your life, try a night shoot from a 4-man stack - the muzzle flash going off directly next to your face will make you hope for a shit hot team)
