NFOs in helicopters?

to my knowledge, you're correct: there are no NFOs in helos. All "NFO-type" duties are done by enlisted aircrew--AWs in the Navy most often. They're crew chiefs, flight engineers, weapons systems operators (for SH-60s), etc. I heard that there might be change in the SH-60 community; anybody hear the same?

No, there are no NFO's in helicopters that I am aware of...and that includes Marines too. Marine NFO's go to the EA-6B Prowler and F/A-18's. This is just a question, but what do you think the purpose of the NFO should be in a helicopter? I personally don't see any purpose for them.

I agree; no need for a 'FO. Scuttlebutt was that the copilot would be replaced by a NFO. Don't really know the reasoning; not familiar enough with the SH-60 and what it does....
