That's sick. That's not like holding off waves of attacks with machine guns, artillery, etc. That's serious close combat.

wonder how this will be, I really didnt like Sin City. This story would make a great movie but Im not sure Frank Miller is the guy to tell it. I'll definitely give it a shot though

Yeah, I thought Sin City was one of the most god awful movies I've ever seen. I put Encino Man higher on the list than Sin City.

Based Upon: The 1998 novel of the same title by Steven Pressfield, based upon the true story of 300 Spartans who, along with about 7,000 allied Greeks, held back an army of over 2 million Persians (you read that right) for several days in 480 B.C. at the Battle of Thermopylae.

The movie you are referencing is not even the same movie as the thread starter...just making sure you knew...

I just looked at your link and I know you just copied but the book for this movie is actually written by Frank Miller... 300 which was published in 1999. "SYNOPSIS: Based on the epic graphic novel by Frank Miller, "300" is a ferocious retelling of the ancient Battle of Thermopylae"

On a historical note as well (not movie related) the actual battle involved about 300 Spartans and "several thousand allied Greeks" who were able to hold back roughly 100,000 Persians for 3 days before the Spartans and a small contingent of allies fought to the death on the 4th day. While no where near the 2 million quoted, the feat is still nothing short of awe inspiring.

I'm reading Pressfield's paperback right now, is there any difference between Frank Miller's version and Steven Pressfield? or is it just based off of the same concept of the battle of Thermopylae?

I am a little pissed that the movie is being based on a work by Frank Miller the "graphic novel" genius himself instead of Pressfield's book. Miller's graphic novel crap is OK for complete fantasy like Sin City, but not for Thermopylae.

This movie could have been a Braveheart, but instead it will probably be mediocre.

Also, I believe a movie was made back in the day about "The 300," perhaps in black and white.

There was a movie made in the 60s about Thermopylae, not abd a little dated but not bad.
